VISION: Empowered Individuals and Neighborhoods
MISSION: To promote and provide for Lee County’s diverse human service needs through progressive leadership and community partnerships.
The Department of Human Services serves as a collaborative hub for resources (Federal, State, Local, Private, and Non-Profit) designated to aid economically disadvantaged individuals and families in our community.
There are several program areas within Human Services tailored to specific needs in order to better assist Lee County Residents.
Family Self-Sufficiency - Coordinates a variety of assistance to individuals and families in need. Eligibility Specialists screen for available local resources and provide information & referral to other agencies. People who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless should seek assistance immediately.
Housing Services - Focuses on substandard living conditions, offering a variety of affordable housing services designed to meet the needs of eligible low-income households. Services may include housing rehabilitation, emergency home improvement repairs, rehabilitation of renter-occupied housing, and home buyer down payment assistance.
Neighborhood Building - Links physical planning, capital improvement, and infrastructure projects with public service needs and social service delivery within economically disadvantaged areas of Lee County. This area also includes our juvenile justice program called the Neighborhood Accountability Board Program.
Contracts- Facilitates the provision of human services to residents of Lee County through not-for-profit agencies. The primary function is to ensure compliance with funding requirements through oversight, monitoring, and technical assistance.
