Human Services' Target Neighborhoods

The Department of Human Services' Neighborhood Building Program focuses on services and infrastructure in five designated neighborhoods in unincorported Lee County. Maps are used for project planning and implementation.

 

Neighborhood Stabilization Program

Human Services also administers the Neighborhood Stabilization Program in targeted areas of the county.

 

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Planning and Reporting

Lee County's entitlement funds from HUD require submission of maps for reporting low to moderate income areas, minority concentrations and hispanic concentration.

 

Youth Crime, Restorative Justice and GIS - Part II

This paper and its maps presents analysis of youth crime and youth crime responses by the Department of Human Services and its partners from the Juvenile Assessment Council.  The 2007 Phase studied trend data on the effectiveness of programs responding to youth crime, the relationship between crime locations in residential zones and the offender home addresses, and geographic coordination of agency jurisdictions.

Operation "Blue Roof 2004"

After Hurricane Charley made landfall in August of 2004 there was a large-scale, immediate demand for plastic tarps in order to prevent further exposure to the elements and protect residents from further damage to health and property. GIS enabled us to visually match temporary need to resources.
