Housing Repair and Rehabilitation

If you income qualify and live in Unicorporated Lee County*, you may be eligible to receive assistance to make necessary repairs to your home.

Emergency Repairs

      • Emergency repairs address sudden, unexpected, and urgent health and safety issues.
      • Repairs are temporary and will be done to stabilize the immediate issue.
      • Emergency assistance provided to eligible homeowners cannot exceed $5,000 and is a grant. 
      • Eligible activities include health and safety issues such as: electrical problems, air conditioning, no water to home, and minor roof re-pairs. 

         

Minor Repairs

      • Minor repairs are those that are NOT an emergency and costs do not exceed $5,000.
      • This assistance is a grant.

 

Moderate and Major Repairs

      • A forgivable, 0% interest mortgage will be placed on your property for the amount of assistance received. Mortgage terms vary by program.

 

Maintenance related repairs are not included.

Mobile homes on owned lots are eligible for emergency and minor rehab assistance only.

 

Qualifying homeowners must:

  • Be within HUD income guidelines,
  • Have owned and occupied your home for at least 1 year,
  • Own and occupy the home for the duration of our motgage, AND
  • Meet other requirements. (Varies by Program)

  • Roof repair/replacement
  • Well repair/replacement
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Heating and Air Conditioning
  • Window repair/replacement
  • Door repair/replacement

*The Housing Rehabilitation Program is for properties located in Unincorporated Lee County (outside of City limits), priority is given to elderly and/or disabled homeowners.  Priority will also be given to the five (5) Neighborhood District areas, as identified by the Lee County Board of County Commissioners.  Presently, these areas are: Charleston Park (Alva), Page Park, Palmona Park, Pine Manor, and Suncoast Estates (North Fort Myers).
